Senior Companion Program

Senior Companions reach out to homebound elderly (and
others with special needs) and help relieve loneliness through friendly
visits and companionship.
- Senior Companions are friendly neighbors who provide companionship,
share hobbies and interests, and look forward to sharing time
with you.
- Senior Companions enjoy talking with you, and may be able to
help you resolve problems and concerns while respecting your privacy.
- A Senior Companion helps by visiting, letter writing, reading,
playing cards, occasionally preparing a meal, all at no charge
to the person visited.
- Senior Companions are supervised by your Case Manager / Advocate.

Someone Who Cares:
A Senior Companion is a volunteer who must be over 60 years of age,
able to serve 20 hours a week, be income eligible, and have a desire
to serve home-bound individuals. Senior Companion volunteers receive
orientation, ongoing training, a yearly physical exam, mileage reimbursement,
a tax-free stipend, and personal satisfaction from helping others.
